Project Overview

This case study focuses on the design and development of a website for Cannabotech, a biomedical company that harnesses the untapped benefits of cannabinoids and functional mushrooms to create innovative health and wellness products. The company aims to offer products that combine the therapeutic power of cannabinoids (like CBD) with functional mushrooms (such as Lion’s Mane, Reishi, and Cordyceps) to support mental clarity, immune health, and overall well-being.

The goal of this project was to create an informative, user-friendly, and e-commerce optimized website that introduces Cannabotech's cutting-edge products to consumers, educates visitors about the benefits of cannabinoids and functional mushrooms, and drives online sales through an integrated e-commerce shop.

Problem Statement

Cannabotech, while innovative in their product offerings, had an existing website that was not user-friendly, lacked a coherent narrative, and didn’t highlight the unique benefits of their products in a compelling way. Key issues included:

  1. Lack of Product Education: Cannabinoids and functional mushrooms are still relatively new to many consumers. Without clear, engaging information, users were uncertain about the specific benefits of these ingredients and how they could improve their health.

  2. Poor E-commerce Experience: The existing online shop was hard to navigate, lacked product descriptions, and didn’t provide an easy or intuitive shopping experience for users, particularly on mobile devices.

  3. Confusing Brand Identity: The brand’s message was not clear, and the visual design did not convey trust or professionalism in the biomedical and wellness sectors. Visitors did not have a clear understanding of what Cannabotech was or how it stood apart from other wellness brands.

Our objective was to redesign the website to:

  • Educate users about the science and benefits of cannabinoids and functional mushrooms.

  • Improve the shopping experience to increase conversion rates and customer retention.

  • Clearly define Cannabotech’s brand and build trust with potential customers.

Target Audience

  • Health-conscious consumers: Individuals looking for natural wellness products to improve physical and mental health, particularly those interested in alternative medicine, natural supplements, or holistic health.

  • CBD and Mushroom Enthusiasts: Users familiar with or already using CBD and functional mushrooms, who are looking for high-quality, scientifically-backed products.

  • Wellness Advocates: Consumers who are interested in the latest health trends and seek products with proven, therapeutic benefits.

  • Medical Professionals: Potential partners or healthcare providers interested in understanding the scientific backing behind Cannabotech’s products.

Research & Discovery

  1. Stakeholder Interviews: We conducted interviews with key Cannabotech stakeholders to understand the company's goals, values, and the unique selling points of their products. The company wanted to emphasize both the scientific research behind cannabinoids and functional mushrooms and the holistic health benefits that these products provide. Their mission was to bridge the gap between biomedical innovation and natural wellness.

  2. User Research: To understand how customers perceive cannabinoids and functional mushrooms, we surveyed potential users who already consume CBD or other health supplements. Key findings from the research included:

    • Confusion About Product Benefits: Many users were uncertain about how cannabinoids and functional mushrooms worked together and what specific health benefits they could expect.

    • Trust Issues: Consumers expressed concerns over the lack of transparency regarding product sourcing, testing, and quality control.

    • Desire for Clear, Easy-to-Navigate Product Information: Customers wanted to understand how the products were formulated, their potency, and the clinical research behind them before making a purchase.
